Many moons ago when 52Weeks was but a puppy aged two, we stumbled across a brief but thrilling intro to what appeared to be a legend in the making. We saw Scarlet Box open for Prime Circle. A mental note and a promise was made that this band would get their own week of the fifty-two. Of course conveniently Scarlet Box then disappeared on tour all over the countryside, allowing memories to slowly fade (but never disappear) until suddenly opportunity … Continue reading
If you haven’t heard of The Narrow, well then I’m guessing you most probably spent the last three years in a Zimbabwean jail humming to the Barbie-girl tune of the guard’s mobile phone to keep you sane. Congratulations on your recent freedom! Unfortunately you also missed a superb line-up at the Blues Room on the 14th of June 2006. It really is all about the strings and the screams. All in all, they’re something different – they have … Continue reading
After a brief site outage, 52 weeks continues… Aah, Evolver. I’ve been waiting a long time to see these guys perform. Fortunately they were conveniently lined up to open with Driverlane for The Parlotones at the Blues Room on the 29th June. The venue was packed to the seams, providing the perfect opportunity for Evolver to impress some new listeners. And indeed they did that, and they did it well. Their intro is brash, in your face, we-are-here-now-listen-to-us. It works. … Continue reading
