Southworld are an intense, heavy rock outfit with crazy, beaty riffs and suitable vocals to match. Every single song has a tightness and solidity to it that screams of professionalism and pure talent. It didn’t take much to get excited with this band doing their thing on stage. The use of two lead guitars (ala Fokofpolisiekar/The Narrow) once again gives the music a wild intensity and majesty that begs attention.
Their music itself is straight out of The Narrow’s playbook, but when seeing the passion and fire in this band’s performance, one starts to wonder if this is actually Southworld’s playbook, borrowed by The Narrow. It wouldn’t surprise me.
On the sound side of things, the only major problem was that all the guitar in the air left little space for the vocals to come through until the sound guy tweaked it.

And as further tribute to this band’s great attitude, knowing that there were only ten people at the venue, they invited everyone in attendance to join them in jamming on stage with them. It’s not everyday you get to mosh with the lead guitarist or head bang right next to the drums. It was a special touch that made the evening that much more enjoyable. It also helped create some of the awesome photos.
All in all Southworld had a tight set from start to finish – I’ll be hunting them down for some listening pleasure again soon.
