Alabama Shakes

Watch this video to see the breakout band of 2011, Alabama Shakes, who are clearly destined to go huge in 2012. Very very cool stuff.

Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey (aka Lizzy Grant) unleashes a husky, sexy voice on her debut single released earlier this month. Add to that croon her classic Italian-movie-star-looks and you’ve certainly got a great recipe. Projecting the stylings of New-York-Mob-glamour and using good songwriting with great lyrics, this single is certainly a huge breakout. I managed to pick up on this band off the SXSW 2011 showcasing artists torrent, … Continue reading

Stargazing?

For those of you not familiar with the stargazing music genre, think electronica meets indie meets pop-folk. Think Galaxie 500, Luna, Wondermints, Young Galaxy – even Grandaddy. All great bands. I don’t know why I haven’t heard about Wild Light before – Adult Nights was released back in 2009, and what a cool album indeed. Apparently one of Paste magazine’s … Continue reading
