Week #4: The Sasha Lee Band

Having previously praised the Sasha Lee Band earlier in March this year, it’s difficult to come out with a new original review that does not echo my previous sentiment, especially because this trio is not slipping in the least. I’ll try and add more, but best you read my original review too. I screeched into HiFlyerz slightly before ten on Friday evening, just in time to catch the last drumbeats of the band’s first set, and just in time to … Continue reading

Rounding up the first month

Well, its reaching the end of the month, and so the fourth week of 52 Weeks looks like it’ll be one of Candy Fly, Niemand, Sugardrive or Subrosa. The next gig to host the 52 Weeks roadshow will be on Saturday 20 May at Nile Crocodile in Pretoria. The bands set to be playing are Epicure, Far Beyond Driven and Subrosa. The band we’re reviewing? Not too sure yet, but it looks like Far Beyond Driven might just steal this week. On a side … Continue reading

Week #2: Prime Circle

So for Thursday evening fellow (unofficial) 52Weekers Jaques and Janine booked a table an arms-length distance from the stage to see Prime Circle rocking at the newly(?) renovated Boston (ex Boston Tea Party) in Menlyn, Pretoria. Being very familiar with Prime Circle we obviously entered with high hopes, and we were not disappointed. What a treat it turned out to be.    I’m going to break the rules of 52 a little and tell you about the first surprise of … Continue reading
