Love Jones "Limozeen" Music Video Launch

So I had the good fortune to receive an email from Sam Alberts of the Love Jones management team inviting me to the launch of their new music video at Stones in Centurion. So I went. And had a great time. Snip: The video for “Limozeen” was shot by international director and producer Michael Matthews using 35mm film, a rarity in the South African music-video industry, and is regarded as one of the most expensive music videos filmed in South … Continue reading

Week #27: The He-Shes

I love it when bands approach me and ask me to attend their gigs – it’s hugely rewarding, and occasionally I even manage to bum a free beer or two off of these suffering artists. (Hell, I should be the one sponsoring the beer, not them). Such was the case with The He-Shes, a brand new shiny act that’s just kick started themselves in Jo’burg. Week #25: My Favourite Weapon

I think the photo’s say it all about My Favourite Weapon. They’ve got a punchy, punky metal sound. Their high-paced, energetic performance is visibly enjoyable to them, and their contagious enthusiasm shines through in their fantastic stage attitude.   Smiles all around from the band members show that these guys love jamming. From start to finish their performance as part of Punk Rock 101 at Tings was a blur of energy. My only criticism can really be that in a way it felt a … Continue reading
